Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is located in the state of California. It is about 20 kilometers away from the city center. It is not only the main airport in the area, but it is one of the largest airports in the world. It is a transportation hub connected by air communication with many corners of the Earth.

General information: location, parking, public transport
The airport is located near the Pacific Coast exit, near the intersection of Interstates 105 and 405. Traffic is usually congested during the morning and evening hours, so it is best to choose to get to the airport by public transportation, which has priority of travel.

There are 9 terminals: 8 of them are numbered and the ninth, the main terminal, is named after Tom Bradley. It serves the world’s largest airlines, including Russia’s Aeroflot.

There are three free bus routes within the airport:
Directly between terminals.
From each of the nine terminals to the nearest parking lot near the airport.
From the airport to the first city subway station.
As for parking, there are about eight thousand parking spaces at the airport. It is possible to park for short and long periods of time. And there are two zones on the airport perimeter and the third one is located in the central terminal area. On the perimeter parking is much cheaper. There are also waiting areas for greeters.

In the arrivals hall there is an assistance service, whose specialists provide the necessary information and, if necessary, help to people with physical disabilities. In addition, Los Angeles Airport has a 24-hour automated information line. You can find its telephone number on the airport website.

Additional services

Money. There are several bank branches, currency exchange offices, and ATMs.
Communication. There is free Wi-Fi. If the free Internet speed is not enough, you can get high-speed access for an additional fee. Interestingly, you can rent a cell phone in the arrivals hall. There is also organized charging point for phones and other electronic devices.
Meals. At the airport there are various cafes, bars and restaurants for passengers with different income level.
Shopping. To wait between flights was not tedious, the airport has a mass of stores. Offers souvenirs, cosmetics, perfumes and books. The world famous duty-free shops are located in the main terminal and terminals 2-7.
Luggage. A cart can be obtained in the baggage claim area and near the terminals. Lost luggage can be picked up at the local police station.
Other services. There is a medical emergency room in the main terminal.
The highest level of care for people with disabilities
The airport is well equipped for people with disabilities: restaurants, elevators, stairs, toilets. The parking lots have spaces for them. There are wheelchair elevators and shuttles running between the airport perimeter parking lots.

If it is necessary to provide a wheelchair, a request should be made in advance to the airline. In this case, the wheelchair will be provided immediately upon arrival at the Los Angeles Airport. There is also a dedicated phone line for the deaf and hard of hearing. Her phone number can be found on the airport website.

So at Los Angeles International Airport everything is made for the comfort of the passengers. Although this airport can not be called innovative, it has everything that a person may need upon arrival to a foreign country.

Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX), also known as New Beijing Airport, is the largest airport in the world. It is also Beijing’s second international airport along with Beijing Capital International Airport. The airport’s design is innovative and its location in the Daxing district (a southern suburb of Beijing) is ideal for serving the Chinese capital and neighboring areas of Hebei and Tianjin. The new hub-mega airport is expected to handle up to 45 million passengers a year by 2021, rising to a remarkable 100 million in the future.

Located on the border between Beijing and Langfang County in Hebei province, Daxing Airport is expected to serve the needs of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei districts. Its location was chosen after careful analysis. Located 46 km from Tiananmen Square, 67 km from Beijing International Airport and 26 km from Lanfang City Center, Daxing Airport aims to become the region’s main airport hub.

One of architect Zaha Hadid’s latest projects

Passenger traffic is expected to be about 45 million people per year by 2021, with plans to increase that figure to 100 million later. The airport has eight runways, all of which will be operational by 2024.

The 700,000-square-meter building of Beijing’s new air gateway was designed by famed Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid shortly before her death in 2016. The six-pointed star-shaped terminal has organic shapes and plenty of natural light. Each of the six arms diverging from the central core is dedicated to traditional Chinese cultural phenomena such as silkscreen, porcelain, and tea. The terminal has more than 80 gates.

Construction lasted four years

The airport was built in four years and 120 billion yuan (15 billion euros) was invested in the project. Including all infrastructure for rail and road transport to the airport, the cost of the airport was 400 billion yuan.

Opened in the late 1950s, Beijing Shawdu Airport in the north of the Chinese capital handles more than 100 million passengers annually. In terms of passenger traffic it is the second largest in the world after Atlanta Airport in the United States. Its third terminal was opened shortly before the 2008 Olympics, but is already experiencing serious congestion.

On October 1, China celebrates the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Communist People’s Republic in 1949.

Haneda Airport in Japan https://www.laramieairport.com/haneda-airport-in-japan/ Fri, 08 Apr 2022 13:39:00 +0000 https://www.laramieairport.com/?p=59 Tokyo Haneda International Airport is an airport in a district of Tokyo serving mainly domestic or international charter flights of Japanese companies

Tokyo Haneda International Airport is an airport in a district of Tokyo serving mainly domestic or international charter flights of Japanese companies (Japan Airlines; All Nippon Airways). Haneda also receives daily “regular charter” flights from other Asian cities – Korean Air; Cathay Pacific; China Eastern Airlines. As a rule, such flights take place late in the evening or early in the morning, at a time when Narita Airport is closed.

From the airport you can go to Tokyo or other cities in Japan by train (one station, Keikyu Line) and Tokyo Monorail (two stations – one in each terminal).

Trains go to Shinagawa Station (20 minutes, ticket price is 420 yen) and travel 27 minutes (ticket price is 500 yen). The monorail goes to Hamamatsu-teo station (ticket price 500 yen), where you can transfer to other places in Tokyo. Narita Airport can be reached by train or Narita Express.

It is possible to get to Tokyo by bus, which departs from the airport twice an hour and goes to Tokyo Station, travel time 75 minutes, fare 3000 yen.

History of Haneda
Haneda Airport opened in 1931 as an airfield. At that time it was the main operating base of Japan Air Transport and served domestic flights as well as flights to Taiwan and Korea, which were under Japanese rule.

The site is now the southern part of the airport complex.

During World War II, the airport was used primarily as a base for military transport services and pilot training.

By 1978, almost all domestic flights arrived and departed here, and most international flights were moved to the newly constructed Narita Airport.

The airport was expanded in 2010 with the opening of a third terminal, mainly for international flights. To prepare for the Olympics and increase the influx of foreign passengers, a new transportation line is planned, which will connect Haneda Airport directly to Tokyo Station. It is planned that the trip will take only 18 minutes.

Dubai International Airport is the largest civilian airport in the United Arab Emirates and is located in the Al Gharhud district, 4 kilometers from the historic center of the city. The construction of this airport cost approximately $5.5 billion. Its maximum capacity is 80 million passengers per year.

Cabs are available at the airport around the clock, parking is placed in the passenger arrival terminals.

Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport (often referred to simply as Atlanta International Airport) is located 11 km south of Downtown Atlanta, Georgia. For the past several years, Hartsfield-Jackson has remained at the top of the congestion list, both in terms of passenger traffic and number of takeoffs and landings. It has 207 domestic and international gates.

In late December 2015, Atlanta Airport welcomed its first-ever one-hundred-millionth passenger, who was presented with a car, two airline tickets and a gift card.

“Hartsfield-Jackson is a major hub for travelers who intend to visit the southeastern United States. Delta Air Lines, ExpressJet, and low-cost carrier Southwest Airlines are based here. For example, the world’s largest airline Delta Air Lines operates more than 1,000 flights daily.

The most popular domestic destination is Atlanta, Georgia to Orlando, Florida. There are 704,000 annual flights between Atlanta and Cancun, Mexico.

The huge airport complex includes a domestic terminal (the main building, divided into north and south parts), an international terminal and 7 parallel concourses (A, B, C, D, E, F and T). Concourse T refers to the domestic terminal, Concourse F to the international terminal.

Service and entertainment at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport is not widely represented, which is a distinctive feature of most U.S. airports. The range of services provided is functionally simple and modest. Here is a basic set of services that should be offered in airports of this level:

  • Currency exchange offices, a bank, ATMs;
  • Mother and baby room;
  • Car rentals;
  • Cafes, snack bars and some stores.
